December Challenge

Hi Pixies!

As scheduled, here's the December challenge. The challenge is to make a holiday card using a non-traditional holiday colour scheme. Here is my submission:

Most of the products used are PTI except for the ink palette which is a Big 'n Juicy in Fall Foliage, the background which was letter pressed with a Spellbinder Impressibility (Flourishes?) and the sentiment which is SU.

Hopefully you can find the time to play along amidst all the holiday preparations.

Sorry, all, I've been going crazy at the new job and have been MIA. I finally got a day off, so I made sure to get this October challenge going.

The challenge is to create anything (card, scrapbook page, paper craft) with stamps/dies you have NEVER used before. For me, it was the "All Booked Up" stamp set and "Book Print" impression plate. The details can be found on my blog. Have a great weekend, gals!

September Challenge

Ahhh, September. My favorite month of the year. Cool days, cooler nights, crisp air, changing leaves, sweater weather - what's not to love about it! OK, so it's still 90+ degrees here with high humidity and wearing long sleeves could cause heat stroke. We'll just have to use our imaginations.

I was looking for some unusual fall-feeling colors when I saw this ad from Macy's several weeks ago. In addition to the colors, I also liked the variety of elements here - flowers, diamonds, birds. Lots to inspire (hopefully)!

And here's a closer look.

And the color pallette? I see Plum Pudding, Ocean Tides, Terracotta Tile, Orange Zest, Kraft and white in the inspiration picture.

Care to play along? You have all month. And maybe it will be cooler by month's end.

Hey Pixies!

I hope this is OK to post this...seeing as the ol' blog hasn't been updated since {gasp} June! So I figured the perfect time to tell y'all about my new shoppe - heh!

Today is the grand opening of my brand new ETSY shoppe: It's in the Bag!

The shoppe features all the cute little bags needed to present heartfelt & handcrafted gifts in a special way. To start, I've got 3 different sizes of glassine bags, 2 different sizes of white paper bags, and 2 colored paper bags. And because I'm not out to be a millionaire *yet - wink*, you'll find that my prices are competitive and in some cases lower than what you'll find elsewhere.

June Challenge

It's the last day of June and this card has been on the "to do" list all month. Why I wait until the last minute, I do not know! I used a little of everything from the challenge. I deliberately did an uneven stitch around the edge of the card, cut the scalloped squares with a Nestability die, and added something different to each square. The green and orange also come from the challenge colors. I colored the flower and the button twine with my Copic markers. I can't get Typepad to work tonight, but eventually I'll get this on my blog as well. Thanks for the challenge, Karen! It was a good one.

Heads Up! Discontinuing Inks!

You might want to reconsider if you're thinking of getting ink. Nichole just stated in her blog that they discontinued the inks with their current manufacturer. Exactly what that means, I'm not sure (what kind of ink will end up with, the colors, etc.). Now I'm stuck - I have all the new inks & reinkers except for two (which will never come to fruition now).

Since I'm not a quilter and I struggle w/ mixing all kinds of patterns together, I went for the colors.

I LOVE brown, green & orange together! And I made my first CAS card - yay! I kept wanting to add more stuff to it, so it was a struggle.

I really love inspiration challenges. Hopefully you'll enjoy this one as well. I found this awesome set of Fat Quarters that I'd like you to use as inspiration. You can use just the colors, or pick a pattern, or just go with the idea of sewing - no rules!

What drew me to this image was the colors. Probably because my box containing the Chartreuse paper had just arrived :) But they feel very summer to me as well.

I loved the colors but also used the layout and theme to create my card. You can read more blah-blah-blah about the card on my blog.

Another Pixie posting just under the wire! I knew I wanted to use Distressed Stripes to create a plaid background for this challenge. Thanks for this challenge - it was fun and I know I'll create more of my own backgrounds in the future.

Nothing like just making it by the end of May. Ever since the challenge was posted, I've known what I wanted to do. My son is wearing his favorite argyle sweater in this photo taken on his 27th birthday. Once I had A Little Argyle, doing a scrapbook page seemed the thing to do. I have to admit, however, I do not find stamping a background pattern an easy thing to do. I tried Orange Zest on Vintage Cream cardstock, but the stamp just wasn't giving me consistent coverage. I finally went with a Watermark ink on Orange Zest cardstock and that worked a lot better. The patterned paper is the new Basics by Basic Grey as are the letter stickers.

I'm just sneaking this in before the end of May! I stamped a simple background using background Basics - Retro in Ocean Tides and broke out my butterfly dreams set and stamped on Sweet Blush. A few little pearls and ta da all done!

I had such fun with this challenge. I love making pattern paper. This uses Beautiful Blooms 2. I used a few different company's inks but everything else is all PTI.

The May Papertrey Pixies challenge was a fun one: create your own patterned paper using stamps.

I used the For the Graduate set and a sentiment from Fillable Frames #3.

I love that the Mat Stack Die fits the large focal stamp perfectly.

I also used the Page Maps blog sketch as the framework for my card.

The color scheme is the school's colors - dark and light blue. Perfect for a masculine card.

How About a Challenge???

Today is a very special day!!! Not only is it National Scrapbooking Day, but it is also the day of our very first Papertrey Pixie Challenge, which I just happen to be hostessing! I thought it would be only fitting to somewhat combine the two occasions so my sample for the challenge is a scrapbook page. My challenge to all of you who choose to accept it is this:

***Create your own patterned paper***

The base of my layout was created using a sheet of Guide Lines I Grid Sheets cardstock and the Butterfly Dreams stamp set. I chose the colors Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, New Leaf, Raspberry Fizz and Aqua Mist based on this photograph of my daughter. The grid on the Guide Lines cardstock makes it *so* easy to line up your images! I simply stamped the butterflies in a repeating pattern until I had covered my page. I added some button accents to a few of the butterflies on the right of my page for some added interest. I *love* the way this page turned out!!!

Now I want to see your creations! Create your own patterned paper using stamps, punched images, scraps of other patterned papers - anything goes!!! You have the entire month of May to submit your challenge entries if you choose to participate. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in so invite your friends! If you upload to another site please use the keyword PTPC1 (Papertrey Pixies Challenge 1) in order to make it easier to find your submissions and leave you some love. Hi everyone! I am really excited about this group and the opportunity to get to know all of you better. I live in Gettysburg, PA with my husband of almost 22 years and five of our six kids. The oldest has married a wonderful man and they live about 45 minutes from us. We attend the same church, so we get to see them several times a week. I homeschool my youngest four, so that is my primary focus during the days. I used to scrapbook when my children were smaller, but once I started homeschooling that became my focus. I began to get very stressed out and my husband told me I needed to find a hobby. He took me to the CKC Scrapbook Convention in Philadelphia for our anniversary that year to "find a hobby for me". He is the sweetest man ever! I think he was the only man at the convention, but he proudly held my bags and stood in the long lines for me while I looked around. That was where I discovered stamping and cardmaking and knew I had found my thing. I loved that I could sit down and work on a project and finish it in such a short time. Although I have always been crafty for as long as I can remember, I don't think anything has been as satisfying for me as cardmaking. When I first started stamping I bought so many stamps because I thought I needed everything, but once I found Papertrey I knew I had found the perfect stamp company for me. Papertrey fits my stamping style perfectly and though I use stamps from other companies, I always seem to find myself reaching for my Papertrey stamps the most. I adore all of Papertrey's products!
Well, I thought I would struggle with what to say here, but it turns out this is longer than I thought it would be. Thanks so much for letting me part of the Papertrey Pixies!

Hi all! Okay, am I the last one?

I'm an engineer by day and a mom (to a 6-yr old boy & puppy)/wife/whatever the rest of the time.
I truly do believe that crafting helps to keep me sane. Also gives me a chance to work my right brain (which is left alone during the day).

I have always enjoyed creating things. I got into scrapbooking after my son was born.
I hit a wall with scrapbooking last year some time and somehow got on the path of cardmaking and PTI.
I've been a goner since. Very addicting since cards take less time to make/create.
BUT I must and will get back into scrapbooking for my son's albums.

Born & raised in Hawaii.
And first off, if you've never been, we do NOT wear grass skirts and live in huts...LOL.

Although I really do love living here, the cost of living (median price for home - $500-600K, one-bedrm condo - $225K), state of the education system (don't get me started), the need for political rehaul imo, and the island feeling too small (like a rock) are some of the things that get to me at times. But like everywhere else, there's positives & negatives, I guess.

I'm looking forward to getting to know each of you and to be inspired by your work. I've already visited most of the blogs and am happy that we have such a diverse & talented group!

Hi everybody!
It's been so fun reading everybody's intros! I have to say I am so excited to be a part of this team-I think it's going to be a lot of fun!
So a little bit about me, I live in a suburb of St Paul. I have been married for almost 5 years to my cutie, John. We love animals and have 1 dog, Chewie, he's a boxer. He is so cute and makes me laugh every single day! We are planning on adding another dog to our household sometime this spring so I'm sure I will be sharing lots of photos!! We don't have kids yet but maybe in the next few years that will change ;)
I have been crafting really my whole life, but serious about papercrafting in the last few years. I made my first PTI order of just cardstock a few months ago and have been hooked ever since (seriously they have the BEST cardstock!!) I'm working on building my collection of PTI goodness and I am having a blast with it!

Hi everyone! My name is Brenda Weaver and I'm excited to be a part of the Papertrey Pixies group. I'm actually very new to Papertrey stamps. I just bought my first set a couple of months ago, but there is sooooo much more I want to get just as soon as the budget allows. I'm loving the masculine sets just released this month, and the woodgrain...yummy! So I may not be quite as much of a PTI addict as some of you, but just give me some time (wink)
My husband and I have been married for almost 14 years and we have three kids- Nathaniel (11), Isaiah (8), and Chloe (4).
We live in Robesonia, Pennsylvania, which is about an hour North of Philadelphia.
I'm a stay-at-home mom and just recently opened a shop on Etsy where I sell cards and embellishments, etc.
I've been stamping for about six years and scrapbooking for about 10 years, although I've been crafty in one form or another almost my whole life. I recently found some clothes I designed for my paper dolls when I was a little girl. How fun! It was funny to see how everything had an 80's vibe to it.
I'm honored to have been published in several card making and scrapbooking magazines and serve or have served on a few design teams. Publishing is pretty much a focus of mine right now, but I struggle to find the time to make items to submit.
I've been having fun visiting your blogs I'm looking forward to getting to know you all and being inspired even more by your work.

I'm so happy to be a part of this new group of Papertrey fans. I've been making cards for over 15 years now, then moved on to scrapbooking, and then to photography. Now I try to manage time for all three, which is easier since I retired a year and a half ago after 37 years of teaching. I taught special education for about half that time, and every grade except kindergarten. My favorite was fifth grade where I spent the most time. I have to say I really don't miss it much. I volunteer in a friend's classroom every week, and go home after my "kid fix" with no papers to grade or paperwork to complete! In addition to crafting, I volunteer in several capacities for my church, love to read, browse blogs, and spend time with my friends. Life is very good!

I've been married for nearly 37 years to my best friend, and am mom to two adult children. My daughter lives outside San Francisco. Her husband is a minister for youth and young adults, and she is a graduate student in spiritual theology at GTU in Berkeley. My son graduated with a degree in plant breeding and genetics last May. While he's looking for a job in his field, he's living with us and working full-time for a landscape company. His ideal job would be in California as he hopes to go to UC Davis for graduate school. I love visiting California, but it's too far away! I'm enjoying getting to know all of you through this blog as well as each of yours. I will try to keep up with everyone!

Sonya and I'm a Papertrey Pixie. Sounds so confessional. I live in Vancouver, BC not Washington, on the West coast of Canada - home of the recent Winter Olympics. Born and raised. I've been married just over 10 years to a very funny, extremely patient and tolerant man, Charlie. My moms, who is living with vascular dementia, lives with us. Some days are a challenge but mostly they are a blessing and something for which I am grateful.

I've been paper-crafting a really long time and love having a hobby that is so dynamic. New to blogging - is blogging considered social networking? - and am enjoying it quite a bit. Have really great local stamping friends but I think I'm on-line with my fellow PTI addicts way more often and learn just as much if not more. I'm hoping to meet up with some of you during my travels this year to Hawaii and Great Britain.

I think I've blabbed on long enough about myself. Thanks to all the Pixies who have already visited and left comments on my blog. Hoping to get around to visiting each and everyone of you very soon.

My name is Teresa. I am originally from Chicago, although I moved to Sunny Florida about 6 years ago. My husband John and I have been married for almost 10 years and we have a beautiful daughter named Kaleigh who will be turning 8 in a few short months. I work as a Special Education teacher in an Elementary school. I have been crafty all my life, something I inherited from my mom, but I didn't start stamping until after my daughter was born. I have been primarily a card maker until the last year when I really started to focus on scrapbooking. I try to incorporate stamping into every layout! I get together with two of my fellow teachers about once a month for marathon scrapping days and I am slowly converting them into stampers as well. I have been in *love* with Papertrey Ink since the very beginning and the first stamp set I bought was Butterfly Kisses. I am really looking forward to getting to know each and every one of my fellow Pixies and cannot wait to see how inspiring you ladies can be!!! I thought I would share this page with you today. It is the first scrapbook page in my album and I adore this photo of Kaleigh. It is still one of my favorites and *of course* - it has butterflies . . . ;)

Chris! It's a real treat to be in such great company here with the other Pixies.

I live and work in West London in England - about 15 miles from the city itself and not far from Windsor Castle. I am lucky to live in one of the leafy suburbs and still be able to nip into the city on the tube to shop and have dinner.

I've been a Papertrey addict since the very first stamp set and have to work extra hard at my day job as an Human Resources Manager to pay for my crafting addiction (and the shipping and customs charges!). At home there is also Paul, my husband and Fliss (Felicity) our daughter who is 18 in June. As a family we love to travel as often and as far as we can.

I thought I'd be brave and show you a Papertrey card that I made recently for a Mojo Monday sketch - be gentle with me please!

I’m Michelle aka mearsfansinboise aka Michelle in Boise (Boise, Idaho USA).

I’ve been cardmaking for a year and 4 months now. I had a friend in Canada who would always send me handmade cards and I thought “I can do that”. So I jumped in with both feet, bought everything that Papertrey Ink had in the store, and away I went.

I’ve had the best time – met some really neat people, got on some design teams, have been in CARDs magazine for 11 issues now – just starting submitting to Paper Crafts and am in 3 upcoming issues. Fun stuff – totally amazed at everything that’s come with this great little hobby (addiction).

When I’m not at my craft table making cards – and I only make cards….no scrapbooking here – I guess I’m running my 2 little kids around….or working – I do have a full-time job – or doing laundry (I can’t ever seem to get caught up), or watching reality TV.

I’m not all that exciting – but I’m glad to be a part of this group.

Karen. I hate doing intros, so I figured I'd get mine done and out of the way :D I'm a stay-at-home mom of 2 girls. They are both in school, so I volunteer at the school and have a position on the PTA (ugh!). My fabulous husband brings home the bacon so I can buy more stuff (after the kids get fed & clothed, of course).

I currently live in Hawaii. My hubby's job moved us here a year and a half ago for his job. It is a temporary position, so this time next year we'll be heading back to Virginia (where I was born and lived until a year and a half ago). Today was a beautiful day, so I'm inclined to say I enjoy it here. I miss my family though, so I'll be happy to go home.

I own a lot of stamping supplies, but I don't stamp as often as I could. I love reading and if I'm not stamping, then I'm usually stuck in a book.

Hello Fellow Papertrey Pixies!

Thought I would post a little diddy about myself! Not to much to tell ya except I am a single female living in the great country of Canada in Windsor, Ontario. For the Pixies who live in the States, Windsor is located right across the river from Detroit, Michigan. Trust me, Windsor and Detroit may only be a tunnel ride from each other, but the two cities are nothing alike!!

My paper crafting addiction is paid for by working as an accountant at our local community college. I love everything paper crafting; scrapbooking, cards, gifts, altering...you name it!! I discovered PTI in 2008 and have been hooked ever since. I love the versatility of PTI stamps. They can be interchanged so easily, which makes coming up with creations so much easier! I'm not the most creative person in the world, but PTI products have helped me think outside the box. And I love that PTI is coming out with more and more product lines...my bank account may not love it as much as I do though!

Well, that's me in a nut shell! Can't wait to learn more about all the other Pixies and gain inspiration from everyone. I know we are going to have so much fun!

Greetings fellow Pixies. I am Caryn Davies, SAHM with 5 kids and a home business as an estate and lettings agent (Five Estates). I live on a peninsula called the Wirral which probably none of you have heard of but it is just across the Mersey river from Liverpool (ahh, I hear you all say!!) in the UK. I think I am the only non-stateside pixie on the team but that's ok, I'm sure I'll fit in!!!

I have been crafting for a little over 6 years and have dabbled in scrapbooking along the way - but cards are my bag now!! I discovered PTI through a friends blog and have to say, it has completely changed my style. You only have to look back through my blog to see that!!

Well, that's all there is to know about me - really, I am THAT dull!! Looking forward to hearing about the rest of you and to seeing all your wonderful creations along the way. I would share a card with you now but I am on my brand new PC and all my photos are stored on my old one!!! Must get them copied over!!
