Another Pixie posting just under the wire! I knew I wanted to use Distressed Stripes to create a plaid background for this challenge. Thanks for this challenge - it was fun and I know I'll create more of my own backgrounds in the future.
Nothing like just making it by the end of May. Ever since the challenge was posted, I've known what I wanted to do. My son is wearing his favorite argyle sweater in this photo taken on his 27th birthday. Once I had A Little Argyle, doing a scrapbook page seemed the thing to do. I have to admit, however, I do not find stamping a background pattern an easy thing to do. I tried Orange Zest on Vintage Cream cardstock, but the stamp just wasn't giving me consistent coverage. I finally went with a Watermark ink on Orange Zest cardstock and that worked a lot better. The patterned paper is the new Basics by Basic Grey as are the letter stickers.
I'm just sneaking this in before the end of May! I stamped a simple background using background Basics - Retro in Ocean Tides and broke out my butterfly dreams set and stamped on Sweet Blush. A few little pearls and ta da all done!
I did it, I completed our first challenge! ;-D Thanks, Teresa, for such an interesting challenge--making our own background paper--and you also inspired me to break out my rusty scrapbooking brain and get back to that *other* hobby that I love! This was fun and I can't wait to see what June brings us!
"Work smart, not hard" is one of my mantras so....I had to make a mother's day card and I wanted to participate in the first ever Pixie challenge to create my own background. I'll post the nitty gritty on my own blog in just a sec.
Anyways, hope everyone has a lovely mother's day tomorrow.
Today is a very special day!!! Not only is it National Scrapbooking Day, but it is also the day of our very first Papertrey Pixie Challenge, which I just happen to be hostessing! I thought it would be only fitting to somewhat combine the two occasions so my sample for the challenge is a scrapbook page. My challenge to all of you who choose to accept it is this:
***Create your own patterned paper***
The base of my layout was created using a sheet of Guide Lines I Grid Sheets cardstock and the Butterfly Dreams stamp set. I chose the colors Pure Poppy, Orange Zest, New Leaf, Raspberry Fizz and Aqua Mist based on this photograph of my daughter. The grid on the Guide Lines cardstock makes it *so* easy to line up your images! I simply stamped the butterflies in a repeating pattern until I had covered my page. I added some button accents to a few of the butterflies on the right of my page for some added interest. I *love* the way this page turned out!!!
Now I want to see your creations! Create your own patterned paper using stamps, punched images, scraps of other patterned papers - anything goes!!! You have the entire month of May to submit your challenge entries if you choose to participate. Anyone and everyone is welcome to join in so invite your friends! If you upload to another site please use the keyword PTPC1 (Papertrey Pixies Challenge 1) in order to make it easier to find your submissions and leave you some love. If you are a Pixie please upload *here*, as well as your own personal blog if you desire. Looking forward to seeing what everyone comes up with!!!
